Chi Institute Equine Facility

Our design of the Chi Institute Equine Teaching Facility sets a new standard for equine veterinary education and acupuncture services.

The master plan study for the Chi Institute explored future expansion opportunities. These include a small animal clinic, and dormitory. The result is a thoughtfully designed campus that promotes a holistic approach to equine care and education.

A covered outdoor teaching space is bordered by horse stalls, storage rooms, restrooms, and offices. Adjoining the teaching area is the 20,000-square-foot Equine Education Center with a horse arena and overnight stables. The stable facility features 12 horse stables, an entryway lobby, and additional restrooms and storage rooms.

The pre-engineered metal horse arena includes bleacher seating and open areas for various horse exercises and therapies. The entire facility is designed to enhance the learning experience, while offering the best possible care for the horses.

The Chi Institute Equine Facility is now operated by the University of Florida. It offers advanced acupuncture services for large animals, treating a range of musculoskeletal, respiratory, and neurological conditions. This collaboration between Walker Architects and the Chi Institute has resulted in a world-class equine education and treatment center, pushing the boundaries of traditional equine medicine.
