Focused Recreation

UF Graduate and Professional Student Lounges

The 1,139 square foot Graduate Student Lounge includes a lounge area with a kitchen, and three new window openings for an airy, naturally lit feeling. Video conferencing capabilities and a full-height wall of markerboard give student groups collaborative study space. Inspired by input from the students themselves, the design projects a professional image with timeless, neutral materials, while remaining fresh and fun using vibrant accent colors and bold patterns.

The 2,350 square foot Professional Student Lounge is largely a recreational space with ping pong, foos ball, and pool tables, as well as a casual lounge area and a kitchen with café seating. Activity types are grouped within the large room to create distinct zones while maintaining a comfortable, open community environment. The zones themselves are reinforced and distinguished by a simple yet strong ceiling feature and floor pattern that features vivid colors in a classically modern design.
